Westward League Cross Country
Westward League Rules 2026 – 2027Each autumn and winter the club enters and participates in the Charles Stanley Westward league cross country series of races. There are usually 6 races in the series including both the Devon and Cornwall championships races.
There are team events as well as individual events with the best 5 results from 6 races counting towards final positions. For the team events there need to be 5 men to score and 4 women to score for the respective races. Men and women have separate races. There are also junior age group races which are held separately at earlier times.
The race distances vary slightly at each event but in general the men run about 9k and the women run 5k. Juniors run between 1.5k and 4k depending on age groups.
The club will try to put together teams for the series, expressions of interest will be sought in October each year.
It’s a great way to improve your fitness and strength for all types of running and helps provide a focus during the wet winter months.
