RunExe 5k Exmouth, Endurance Life South Devon Marathon & Braunton 10

RunExe 5k Exmouth

Jo Page and Claudine Benstead braved the cold on Wednesday evening to run the inaugural Run Exe 5k race. The course took us along Exmouth seafront promenade on a pancake flat route but with some sand from previous storms.

Claudine returning to form had an incredible run of 20:36 to win her age category and take second place overall. Her age grading result was a phenomenal 98%.

Unable to catch Claudine but still pleased with her run, Jo Page achieved a time of of 21:03 and was first FV35.

Endurance Life South Devon Marathon

This race is where the coastal series was born and the South Devon Stage has become a cult classic. The course is contained within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is simultaneously picturesque and punishing. With its blend of jagged rocks interspersed with idyllic sandy coves, this coastline is jaw-droppingly beautiful and hugely inspiring. Charlie Temperley was the only ORC to enter and chose the marathon distance. The conditions on the day were perfect and he reported stunning stretches of coastal path. He made it to the finish with barely any energy left in the tank but was pleased with his time of 5 hrs 29 minutes. He came 29th out of 90 runners.

Braunton 10

A late inclusion to the ORC report is the Braunton 10 mile. Braunton 10 is one of NDRR’s oldest and most popular races, with 2 infamous climbs, designed to test the legs and spirit! It’s perfectly placed in the calendar to fit in with a spring marathon training plan.
Jo Page was grateful for a third female position but was disappointed she was 2.5 minutes slower than last year. He time was 1 hr 14minutes 48 seconds.
