Fast Friday 10k, Westward League and Run in the Park

The final leg of the Westward League cross-country took place in Redruth and the team of Andy Vallance, Matt Pitson, Paul Crease, Stuart May and Tom Gill put in a particularly good performance in this final round boosting their position in the overall placings to 8th out of 61 teams. This is the first year the club has taken part in this event and has managed to field a complete mens team in five of the six races with varying numbers of ladies taking part also. The Mens B team finished 45th and the Mens Vet Team were 16th. Despite having fewer runners, the ladies team finished 35th out of 64 and the Lady Vets were 19th.

Mark Hawkins along and Beverly Kidson took part in the Fast Friday 10k, a two lap, traffic free and pancake flat 10km run on footpaths and cycle tracks around Exwick Playing Fields and the River Exe Flood Relief. On what turned out to be the only nice day of the Easter Bank holiday weekend they found the spring sunshine and lack of breeze rather too warm for comfort, however both ran excellent races with Mark finishing just 10 seconds slower than last week’s Age UK 10k in 46.48 while Beverly finished in a very good time of 49.54 to come 2nd in the FV55 age category.

Moving into April we saw the largest turnout to the Run in the Park with a massive 75 completing the course! Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to everyone who volunteered.

The course records for the 5k remain as 18.18 set by Will Lamerton and 22:51 set by Kate Webber. The course records for the 2.5k remain as 11.46 set by Molly Marvin and 13.09 set by Graham Cruickshank.
