Run Exe 5k, Lydford Dash, parkruns and Summer Series Race 1: Cosdon Hill

On Tuesday 4th July three ORCs took on the Run Exe 5K achieving some impressive results. Robert Kelly 18.06, Geoffrey hill 18.15 and Graham Bryant 18.28. This was followed by some members competing in a brand new race, the Lydford Dash. Described as a nicely undulating 5 miles X Country this was apparently “a beast of a course” according to one member. 1st Male finisher was our very own Andrew Vernon with Janet White scooping the 65+ age category win.

ORC was represented at local parkruns by John Binns running at Tamar Lakes and Mags Jarvis and Jane Richardson running at Barnstaple. Mags not only won her 60-64 age category but achieved a personal best of 26.27 for that course. Jane also won her 65-69 age category.

The Cosdon Hill race on Sunday 9th was the first of our four fell races of our Summer Series. The 3.2 mile race is a gruelling up and down effort starting and finishing in Belstone village. For the second year running the overall winner was Rob Hicks with Paul Crease taking second. Other titles were also taken by ORC members with Charlie Collyer taking first Female 40, Mike Baker 1st Male 50 and Janet White took 1st Female 60, despite having tired legs from the Lydford Dash the day before.

Many thanks to Anne for the run report
