Bideford Half Marathon & March’s Run in the Park

We all knew it was going to be a tough day at the Bideford Half Marathon but everyone did Marilyn proud. With a record turnout of 28 ORCs, there was a massive 11 new PBs achieved by club members, including a new senior ladies club record set by Katie Littlejohns for the half marathon distance. Roger Voaden (who seems to get faster with age!) claimed second prize in the MV50 category. The MV team of Roger Voaden, Andrew Vernon, Mike Baker and Jean-Paul Quertier also placed a very respectable 3rd position.

A huge well done from everyone at ORC to Peter, who ran the distance in memory of his mother, cheered on by family and friends. It was a wonderful tribute to Marilyn having a minute’s applause by the 1,300 runners and spectators at the start of the race. This has certainly been a day that will remain with us as a lasting memory.

Meanwhile, in Simmons Park…

The biggest turnout yet – despite many of the club being in Bideford – 45 runners took on the park in the driest conditions so far this year. Thank you to everyone who took part and a special thank you to those who volunteered to marshall.

The next Run in the Park will be Sunday 3rd April – we hope to see you there!
